Zhejiang Tiantai pumped storage power station, which features the world’s highest hydraulic head, in east China's Zhejiang province, has kicked off the construction of its main section. With four units of 425 MW reversible hydraulic generators, the power station will be fully operational in September 2026.
Upon completion, the station will be used for peak load regulation, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase modulation, power storage, and emergency use for Zhejiang, and will offer flexible dispatching capacity for the East China Grid.
